Garden/Romaine lettuces
Romaine lettuce, with its elongated shape, does not form heads. It is crunchy and tastes a little more tart than other salads. Compared to butterhead lettuce, it tolerates summer heat better. Romaine lettuce is very suitable for cooking and as a gratin where its large and firm rib is not an issue.

Slow-growing lettuce, late to bolt, medium-green coloured leaves, running to red at the edges. Good taste.
