New Zealand spinach - Tetragonia tetragonioides
Fleshy, triangular leaves. Growth is slow at first, followed by abundant branching and the formation of long, creeping shoots. Resistant to heat and bolting.
To promote germination, it is recommended to soak the seeds in lukewarm water for one day. Ensure sufficient spacing between plants. Regular pinching back of shoots promotes new growth and allows for harvesting from summer through autumn. This is a heat-loving leafy vegetable originally from the coastal regions of New Zealand, Australia, and Tasmania. This plant is a good substitute for spinach in summer.
